AI Defined in Everyday Efficiency Terms
I sometimes get swept up in the grand scheme of what AI is doing to make corporations and their processes more efficient, but I saw a recent quote that brought it closer to home for me. n The San Francisco Business Times April 16, 2026, quoting Wen Sang, Co-founder of Genspark AI which had two million users just 45 days after being launched, “Even on the business side, I don’t write my own emails anymore. Every morning I say, Genspark, can my inbox, tell me what’s going on, draft replies for the top urgencies.” I proofread and send. Once you get into that mode, there’s no way back. It feels like driving on Highway 101 in the express lane with a sports car, watching everyone else stuck in traffic”. I’ve mentioned before that I have friends running medium-size companies now confident they can downsize 50% without affecting their operation of bottom-line. “In a survey released by Google in September, the company found that 90% of software developers reported using AI to help them work, while 71% who write code used AI to help them. The widespread use of the tools has led to fears that AI can replace many engineers. Tech companies including Pinterest, Block and Atlassian have cut thousands of jobs in recent months, citing efficiencies created by AI.” New York Times 4/20/26
