Layoffs From AI Continue, Pinterest to Let Go Hundreds, Amazon 14,000 Corporate Jobs
East Bay Times 1/28/26 “Pinterest plans to lay off under 15% of its workforce, as part of broader restructuring that arrives as the image-sharing platform pivots more of its money to artificial intelligence. Beyond the coming layoffs, Pinterest said it will reduce office space. isn’t the first company to turn to job cuts while pivoting spending to AI. Las Fall, Amazon, for example, said it would cut about 14,000 corporate jobs as it ramped up Ai investments while trimming costs elsewhere.” Over the past few weeks, I have been calling on local office users to see how I can assist them in their lease renewals and keeping their office occupancy costs as low as possible. On more than one occasion I have been told by 10,000 sf+ office users that when their lease expires, they plan on shutting down the office and working from home. Haven’t they been reading the news about companies mandating a return to office, not a retreat to home?
