2016 Will See a Continued Shift Towards Eliminating Working from Home
“According to a survey of nearly 1,000 business leaders by Resume Builder, three in 10 companies plan to fully eliminate remote work in 2026 and have employees back in the office five days a week. Many companies have already taken that step in 2025, with a host of corporate titans and tech heavy-weights eliminating or significantly reducing hybrid work….28% of companies this year require employees to be in the office five days a week, 13% require in-office four days w week, and 28% require three days a week. Next year, the percentage of respondents that will have five-day requirements will rise to 30% and four-day schedules will increase to 17%.” Interesting that the headlines of this San Francisco Business Times article (1/2/26) called this “Big Shift’ but I see it as an incremental return to pre-covid levels, and I think there will always be a segment of employees companies do not want to lose to their competitors whom will be allowed as an exception to continue working from home.
