• East Bay Times Oct. 13, 2025 “Remote Jobs Seem Like by Gone Relic”

Oct 13, 2025 | Posted by Jeff Weil | Califorina Business, National Economu, Office Space, Real Estate Landlords, The Office Market, Trends for Office Tenants, Working From Home |

In a recent poll, 63% say they worked fully in person in 2025 as compared with 46% who worked fulltime in the office in2024. “Demand for office space will probably not return to pre-pandemic levels, said Santa Clara County Assessor Gret Monteverde, since working from home “seems to be at some level something that is going to be fairly permanent.” “Security giant Kastle indicates South Bay office occupancy has sluggishly bounced back to barely over half what it was before COVID, while the San Francisco region falls even shorter at around 42%.” A recent survey by Stanford found t days worked fully from home in the Bay Area dropped only 2% this year to 30%.  Like one office worked said, I don’t mind being in the office…I just mind the commute to get to work and then get back home…”  There are at least four groups that are rooting for Return-to-Office…CFO’s who believe in workers coming to the office every day; Office building owners, transits like Bart and Caltrain, and downtown retail who have been crippled y the lack of office workers.
