The Return-To-Office Transition Is All Over The Board
Bisnow 8/23/23 Goldman Sachs is cracking down on making sure everyone comes back to the office full-time “though revenue-producing employees have for the most part returned full time, the publication reports that senior managers are frustrated by the reluctance of other staff, “constituting a significant chunk of its workforce,” to come back.
Google is monitoring employee attendance using badge-tracking and workers aren’t happy. But Google says in doing so, it is encouraging socialization and interaction amongst its employees. The company prioritizes this so much that its former head of HR Laszlo Brock said that the three days a week would serve as a transitional period, with employees eventually coming into the office full-time over the next few years.
Charles Schwab expects to take a $500-500 million dollar hit in employee terminations and downsizing office space with the objective of saving $500 million annually.
Amazon CEO Andy Jassy wants employees to come back to the office for the required three-days a week. “And if you can’t disagree and commit, I also understand that, but it’s probably not going to work out for you at Amazon because we are going back to the office at least three days a week,” Jassy said.”
According to a recent report by AWA, an independent global workplace consultancy, North American workers come to the office 1.45 days a week as companred with the global average of 1.75 days we week.
