First Important Step In Addressing CA Housing Crisis-Bay Area Council
According to recent news reports, California currently has an estimated 2 million housing unit shortfall, which at the industry ratio of 2.6 persons per unit represents 5,200,000 more people, but with all the focus on job / housing imbalances, what about the freeway / public transit imbalance that will dramatically worsen if we add this many new residents? Infrastructure, unfortunately, has a 20-30 year lead time-adding new BART Bay tubes, new freeways, etc., and these will take decades. (Bay Area Council, September 30, 2017)
