Having The Office be A Place Employees Want To Come Back To
In the past having attractive office space with decent amenities was a recruiting and retention tool. It set the tone for corporate culture. Over the past ten years we heard of suburban office parks with bocce ball, basketball courts, outdoor grill areas, and in both suburban and urban offices buildings rooftop garden and lounge areas, These are still important, but in trying to attract office workers who have been working from home for the past 18 months additional elements come into play. Safe, sanitized workspaces, with Hepa filters and physical distance between workspaces. More collaboration space, meeting rooms, and wellness amenities. Less assigned desks, with hot-desking and hoteling. This has been made easier with employees working from home part of the week and in the office part of the week. Employees are looking forward to socialization and collaboration. Seating areas and rooms for teleconferencing, new software to enable reservations and tracking of these conference and collaboration areas can be critical to optimize space usage.
